Arsenal have one foot in the semi-finals of the Europa League after beating CSKA Moscow 4-1 in the quarter-final first leg at the Emirates this evening.
It was a hectic start to the game as Arsenal opened the scoring in the 9th minute with Aaron Ramsey on hand to fire home from a Hector Bellerin cross.
Laurent Koscielny was then punished for giving away a needless free-kick as Aleksandr Golovin curled home a superb strike to make it 1-1 in the 15th minute.
Arsenal restored their lead from the penalty spot after Mesut Ozil was fouled in the area. Alexandre Lacazette tucked away the resulting spot kick to make it 2-1 in the 23rd minute.
A rampant Arsenal then made it 3-1 with a stunning goal from Ramsey as he volleyed home with an acrobatic flick before Lacazette fired home for 4-1 in the 35th minute with Ozil assisting for both goals.
We should have scored more goals in the second half but Lacazette and Welbeck missed great chances while Ramsey also went agonisingly close to sealing hit hat-trick after hitting the post.
Arsenal had to settle for a 4-1 win which puts us firmly in the driving seat heading to Russia for the decisive second leg next week.
