The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Malcom…
Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are set for a transfer battle over the signing of Malcom after a Bordeaux chief confirmed the £50m-rated attacker will be sold this summer, according to a report by TeamTalk.
Malcom has emerged as one of the hottest properties in Europe since joining Bordeaux from Corinthians just over two years ago and he’s provided 9 goals and 7 assists in all competitions so far this season.
The Brazilian U23 international attracted plenty of interest during the January window with Arsenal and Tottenham both strongly linked but Bordeaux managed to keep hold of their star man.
However, Malcom has continued to impress and it looks like the north London duo will have fresh competition as TeamTalk claim that Man Utd have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign the attacker ahead of the summer.
The Premier League giants have now been placed on red alert as Nicolas de Tavernost – who’s the chairman of Bordeaux’s majority shareholding company – has confirmed Malcom will be sold this summer.
de Tavernost made the statement at a shareholder’s general meeting and revealed that a ‘major Brazilian’ [Malcom] wants to leave and will be allowed to do so at the end of the season.
He’s quoted by TeamTalk as saying:
“There are always purchases and sales being made, and there is a major Brazilian player whom you know he wants to leave the club and we will do it in the most absolute respect of our interests. That’s why we first bought this player and then [will eventually sell him] in the off season.”
This revelation is likely to spark interest in Malcom from top clubs throughout Europe and TeamTalk suggest that Bordeaux will demand around £50m for his signature this summer.
The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and especially Man Utd have the finances available to meet that asking price but we’ll have to wait and see if any of the English trio manage to get a deal agreed.

Malcom is predominantly a right winger but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d be a very useful asset for whichever club does end up signing him and I’d love to see him playing in the Premier League next season.
