Arsenal & Tottenham Plotting Swoop As Man Utd Prepare To Sell Unsettled Star
Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to battle it out over the signing of Anthony Martial as Manchester United prepare to cash-in on the unsettled attacker
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Anthony Martial…
Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to battle it out over the signing of Anthony Martial as Manchester United prepare to cash-in on the unsettled attacker, according to the Daily Mail.
Martial was considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in Europe when he joined United from Monaco in a £36m deal back in 2015 and he enjoyed a positive start to life at Old Trafford.
However, the attacker has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Jose Mourinho this season and was handed his first start in over six weeks against Brighton on Friday night.
His return to the starting eleven didn’t go well as Martial failed to make an impact and Mourinho took aim at the Frenchman and Marcus Rashford following a disappointing 1-0 defeat.
Mourinho is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail:
‘The players that replaced others did not perform at a good level.
‘When individuals do that it is difficult for the team to play well. Maybe now you will not ask me why A, B and C do not play so much.
‘Why always Lukaku? Why always Lukaku? Why always Lukaku? You have the answer why always Lukaku.’
These comments have only fuelled speculation that Martial will be leaving this summer and it seems the French international has plenty of admirers in London if he decides to remain in the Premier League.
The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs showing a keen interest in signing Martial and are ready to do-battle over his signature this summer while Chelsea are also thought to be keeping an eye on his situation.
The newspaper says sources from inside the north London duo believe United are ready to cash-in on the 22-year-old but they will want significantly more than the £36m they paid Monaco three years ago.
Arsenal are gearing-up for an overhaul this summer in terms of management and playing staff but no doubt whoever replaces Arsene Wenger would love to have Martial at his disposal if the Gunners could lure him to the Emirates.

However, Spurs will provide stiff competition as Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to turn their talented squad in to major trophy winners and Martial would also be an excellent addition if Tottenham could win the race for his signature.
