Arsenal & Liverpool Handed Boost In Battle To Sign £120k-A-Week French Star

Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a boost in their battle to sign Adrien Rabiot after the midfielder rejected PSG’s latest contract offer

The Premier League transfer window may be closed but European clubs can still buy from English teams and managers are planning for the future so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip. Today, Adrien Rabiot has rejected PSG’s latest contract…

Arsenal and Liverpool have been handed a boost in their battle to sign Adrien Rabiot after the midfielder rejected Paris Saint-Germain’s latest contract offer, according to reports via TeamTalk.

Rabiot has been with PSG his entire career after coming through the youth ranks in Paris and after initially struggling to establish himself as a regular, the 23-year-old finally became an important first team player last season having made 44 appearances in all competitions to help land a domestic treble.

However, Rabiot has been strongly tipped to leave the Parc des Prince as he was left disappointed to have missed out on the French squad that went on to win the World Cup this summer and negotiations over a new contract haven’t progressed in recent months.

The young midfielder is in the final year of his current deal and has so far failed to agree terms over an extension and TeamTalk claim Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel is desperate to keep hold of Rabiot and the club have been resisting attempts from Barcelona to lure the player to Spain while the likes of Juventus and AC Milan have also been touted as potential suitors in the media.

Those hoping to sign Rabiot have been handed a boost as TeamTalk are citing reports from Paris United that claim the French international has rejected PSG’s latest contract offer worth around £120,000-a-week – or £6.3m per year.

Rabiot would be able to demand much more if he becomes a free agent next summer and the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with the midfielder in January.

Arsenal signed Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi this summer but with Aaron Ramsey yet to agree terms over a new deal the Gunners could be eyeing Rabiot as a potential replacement for the Welshman.

Liverpool appear well stocked in midfield after signing Naby Keita and Fabinho this summer but James Milner is coming to the end of his career while Jordan Henderson is hampered by a niggling ankle injury so Jurgen Klopp may want Rabiot to further strengthen his options next season.
