From Spain: 25-year-old travelling to London today to complete move to Arsenal
Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez will travel to London today to complete an initial six-month loan move to Arsenal, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The January transfer window is coming to a close so managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Arsenal are set to sign Denis Suarez…
Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez will travel to London today to complete an initial six-month loan move to Arsenal, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this month and after talks stalled, it was reported by the Evening Standard on Tuesday that a breakthrough had been found in the negotiations.
Barcelona refused to let Suarez leave on loan without an obligation to buy clause being inserted in to the deal as he has just 18 months left on his current contract so the Catalans were concerned that his value would depreciate by the summer.
However, the 25-year-old will sign a one-year contract extension until 2021 meaning his value has been protected and Barcelona have now agreed to allow Suarez to join Arsenal on an initial six-month loan.
Journalist Guillem Balague says Arsenal will pay a £2m [€2.3m] loan fee with the option to buy the midfielder for around £21.8m [€25m] in the summer and Suarez is due to complete his move in London today.

This is supported by Mundo Deportivo who claim that Suarez is travelling to London today in order to complete his move to Arsenal with his agent, Joseba Diaz, already in the capital waiting for his client to arrive.
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde confirmed last night that Suarez was on the verge of joining Arsenal so it looks like we should have our first January signing wrapped-up at some point later today.

Suarez is a central attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing so he’ll give us another valuable option in the final third and he knows Unai Emery well having worked with his during their time together at Sevilla.
