The Arsenal squad have been undertaking their final preparations this afternoon ahead of our Europa League last-16 first leg against Rennes on Thursday evening.
We booked our place in the next phase of the competition with a 3-1 comeback victory over BATE Borisov in the previous round and we’ve now been handed an intriguing tie with Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.
Unai Emery will take his squad to France tomorrow for the first leg and the Gunners boss has been putting his players through their paces at London Colney today in preparation for the game.
It looks like the squad was in relaxed mood in north London today with many of the players looking like they were enjoying the training session but there is still a serious job to be done.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to start up front in place of the suspended Alexandre Lacazette and the Gabon international has been snapped tussling with Shkodran Mustafi for the ball in training today.
Mesut Ozil will be hoping for a recall after being named on the bench for the draw at Tottenham on Saturday while Lucas Torreira is expected to come in to the midfield against Rennes as he’ll be suspended for our next three Premier League games following his sending off at Wembley.
Aaron Ramsey was also out on the training pitch today and he’ll be hoping he’s done enough to retain his place in the starting eleven after scoring against Spurs while Denis Suarez will be desperate to impress Emery in training having struggled to force his way in to the first team since his January loan move from Barcelona.
