Man Utd team news: Solskjaer confirms quadruple injury boost ahead of Arsenal trip
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a huge quadruple injury boost ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
Manchester United will be looking to cement their place in the top four with a win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s provided a team news and injury update including the latest on a number of his Man Utd squad.
Solskjaer was pleased to confirm a huge boost with the news that Anthony Martial is available for selection to face Arsenal this weekend after recovering from a groin injury that’s hampered him in recent weeks.
The Frenchman suffered the injury during United’s Champions League first leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last month and has missed the last five matches in all competitions but Martial is set to return for the trip to north London on Sunday.
Solskjaer also confirmed Eric Bailly is in contention to face the Gunners despite the Ivory Coast international being forced off with a knock during United’s dramatic win over PSG on Wednesday night.
The United boss had further positive news as Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic could also be back to take on Arsenal this weekend. Herrera suffered a hip injury against Liverpool last month while Matic has also been out with a muscle problem in recent weeks but the midfield duo could return to the squad on Sunday if they come through training over the next two days.
Solskjaer told ManUtd.com:
“Eric’s fine. Anthony will be available and, hopefully, we’ll have Nemanja and/or Ander ready as well, so we’re looking better for it. They just need to have another couple of days’ training with the team. They’ve done well in their recovery work.”
United will also welcome Paul Pogba back in to the team after he missed the win over PSG through suspension so Solskjaer will have a much stronger squad available against Arsenal this weekend.
However, Jesse Lingard looks set to miss out once again due to a hamstring injury while Alexis Sanchez will miss the trip to his former club after being ruled out for at least a month with a knee injury.
Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia have been struggling for fitness in recent weeks while Phil Jones has been out with illness and the trio could also miss the huge clash with Arsenal at the Emirates.
