Man Utd team news: OGS confirms triple injury boost but 4 players to miss Wolves
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a triple injury boost ahead of Man Utd’s clash with Wolves but four others will miss the game.
Manchester United will look to boost their top four hopes with a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s provided a team news and injury update including the latest on Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Alexis Sanchez, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia.
The Man Utd boss was pleased to confirm that Lukaku will be back in contention to start against Wolves unless he has a late set-back in training today. Lukaku was forced to pull out of the Belgium squad during the international break due to a foot injury and didn’t feature during United’s 2-1 win over Watford at the weekend but he should now be pushing to start at Molineux tomorrow.
Solskjaer also had positive news on Martial and confirmed that the attacker is ‘fine’ and available for selection against Wolves despite picking up a minor knock against Watford on Saturday afternoon.
In a triple boost, the Man Utd boss confirmed that Lindelof could return to the squad on Tuesday night after missing the win over Watford due to unspecified personal issues.
However, United will still be without the services of Bailly as he continues to nurse a head injury that he picked up during the international break while Valencia and Darmian are also not available for selection yet.
Sanchez is also still working his way back to full fitness following a knee injury that he sustained against Southampton last month so United will be without four players for the trip to Wolves.
Solskjaer told ManUtd.com:
“Anthony will be fine, he’s going to be okay. Victor has had a good few days of training now so he’ll be ready. Apart from that, [Matteo] Darmian and Eric [Bailly] are still out. [Antonio] Valencia is still out and Alexis Sanchez is still out. But it’s a good strong squad.”
“Anthony and Romelu will both be ready for tomorrow, definitely, unless they break down in training today [Monday] but it looks good, yeah.”
“Victor is not injured but he’s had some issues. He had a tough week so Victor will come back soon.”
Manchester United head into the game tomorrow sitting fourth in the table and level on points with third-placed Tottenham. Arsenal could leapfrog them both if they beat Newcastle tonight but United would climb back into the top four with a positive result over Wolves on Tuesday night.
