Arsenal transfer update: Reports suggest Emery could splash £40m on two signings
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Dominik Szoboszlai and an update on their pursuit of Ryan Fraser…
Unai Emery is expected to be busy in the market this summer overhauling his ageing squad after a disappointing debut campaign in England and the Arsenal boss desperately needs to add some width to his attack.
According to the Daily Mail, Ryan Fraser has emerged as a key target for Emery in recent weeks after the Bournemouth attacker was identified as a cheaper alternative to Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.
Fraser was outstanding for Eddie Howe’s side last season, contributing 15 assists and 8 goals in his 42 appearances, and his impressive form has seemingly attracted interest from the Emirates Stadium.
The 25-year-old is about to enter the final year of his contract at Bournemouth and he’s shown no sign he’ll sign an extension at the Vitality Stadium so no doubt Arsenal chiefs are smelling a bargain.
The Cherries know they are under pressure to cash-in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 12 months but the Daily Mail says Bournemouth will still demand £25m from Arsenal for Fraser’s signature.
It remains to be seen whether the Arsenal board will go that high for a player in the final year of his deal but the Scotland international would be a solid addition to the squad if we can get a deal agreed this summer.
Arsenal are also in the market for another dynamic midfielder as we need to replace Aaron Ramsey with the Welsh international set to join Juventus on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month.
According to Football London, Arsenal have identified Dominik Szoboszlai as a potential replacement and they say we’ve now registered our interest in signing the RB Salzburg midfielder.
The 18-year-old only joined Salzburg in January 2018 but he’s already a firm fixture in their first team and he contributed 11 goals and 10 assists in his 29 appearances in all competitions last season.
Szoboszlai’s impressive form has reportedly caught the attention of Arsenal and Football London suggest we’ll have to pay £15m for his signature as Salzburg are desperate to keep hold of the youngster.
The report says Arsenal will also have to compete with the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Lazio while the player’s agent claims several Premier League clubs have expressed their interest.
Agent Matyas Esterhazy is quoted as saying by Football London:
“I can confirm a number of the top Premier League clubs are interested in Dominik but at this point I can not confirm or deny specific clubs,”
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but it looks like Arsenal will have to spend around £40m if they want to land Fraser and Szoboszlai this summer – which would take up the vast majority of Emery’s reported £45m transfer budget.

The Gunners boss is also expected to strengthen his defence with a new centre-back and left-back this summer so he’ll have to raise extra funds by selling some existing players if he wants to afford all of his transfer plans.
