The agent of Bruno Fernandes is in England to hold transfer talks with Man Utd leading Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign the £62m star
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Bruno Fernandes…
The agent of Bruno Fernandes is in England to hold transfer talks with Manchester United leading Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign the £62m Sporting Lisbon captain, according to reports in Portugal via the Express.
Fernandes has become one of the most in-demand players of the summer transfer window following a sensational campaign with Sporting last season that saw him contribute 32 goals and 18 assists in his 53 appearances.
The 24-year-old’s stunning performances have alerted a number of Premier League clubs with the Express claiming that Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham have all expressed their interest in signing Fernandes this summer.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to make minor changes to his Champions League winning squad but it appears Fernandes is on his radar with reports in Portugal last week even suggesting Liverpool have tabled a £40m offer.
Tottenham have also been strongly linked with the Portuguese international as Mauricio Pochettino looks for a replacement for Christian Eriksen amid speculation he’ll be sold this summer and the Telegraph claim Spurs have held talks with Fernandes’ agent.
However, the Express suggest it’s Man Utd who are leading the race to sign the Sporting star and they cite a report from A Bola that claims Fernandes’s agent has arrived in England to hold talks with interested parties.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to strengthen his squad after United finished sixth last season and Fernandes could be viewed as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba after the Frenchman went public with his desire to seek a new challenge this summer.
Fernandes is under contract until 2023 so Sporting are in a strong negotiating position but the Express says United are ready to pay around £62m – which would prove very difficult for the Portuguese outfit to turn down.
