Arsenal to lure £25m star with £75k-a-week contract as Gunners prepare fresh bid
Arsenal are ready to hand Keiran Tierney a contract worth around £75,000-a-week as they prepare to test Celtic’s resolve with an improved offer
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are ready to hand Kieran Tierney a bumper contract…
Arsenal are ready to hand Keiran Tierney a contract worth around £75,000-a-week as they prepare to test Celtic’s resolve with an improved offer for the left-back, according to The Scottish Sun.
Unai Emery has reportedly identified Tierney as a key transfer target this summer as the Arsenal boss looks to strengthen a defence that conceded 51 Premier League goals last season on their way to finishing fifth in the table.
Nacho Monreal is 33 and spent much of last campaign playing on the left side of a back three with Emery seemingly reluctant to play him at left-back. Sead Kolasinac was the preferred choice but he looked more comfortable playing as a wing-back as he was caught out defensively at times.
Tierney is capable of playing in either position so it’s no surprise he’s attracted interest from Arsenal and the Scottish Sun claims we’re ready to test Celtic’s resolve with an improved offer after seeing an opening £15m bid rejected.
Celtic are under no pressure to sell on the cheap as the 22-year-old is under contract until 2023 and the newspaper suggests the SPL champions are demanding around £25m for Tierney’s signature this summer.
Arsenal will no doubt try to drive that price-tag down but if we can agree a fee with Celtic then the Scottish Sun claims we’re ready to tempt Tierney with a bumper five-year contract worth £4m-a-year – which works out at around £75,000-a-week.
That kind of money would dwarf his current contract so it would be extremely difficult for the left-back to turn down a move to the Emirates Stadium – even if he’d be reluctant to leave his boyhood club.
Tierney has been with Celtic his entire career and after coming through the youth ranks he’s established himself as a vital part of Neil Lennon’s first team with almost 170 appearances so far.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but I think Tierney would prove to be an excellent piece of business if Arsenal were able to get a deal agreed to sign him this summer.
