Deal agreed: Player in London for medical after Emery convinces him to join Arsenal
Dani Ceballos is due to undergo his medical and complete a one-year loan move from Real Madrid after Unai Emery convinced the midfielder to join Arsenal
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Dani Ceballos is set to undergo his medical with Arsenal….
Dani Ceballos is due in London today to undergo his medical and complete a one-year loan move from Real Madrid after Unai Emery convinced the midfielder to join Arsenal over Tottenham, according to AS.
Ceballos has struggled to force his way into the Madrid first team on a regular basis since joining from Real Betis two years ago with the midfielder managing to make just 13 La Liga starts last season.
The 22-year-old has confirmed he needs to play regular first team football this coming campaign and there has been no shortage of interest being shown with Arsenal and Tottenham both vying to bring the player to the Premier League.
However, the BBC claim Arsenal have now won the race to sign Ceballos ahead of their north London rivals after reaching an agreement with Madrid over a one-year loan deal.
Arsenal had hoped to negotiate an option-to-buy clause into the deal but AS insist no such arrangement has been secured as Madrid still feel Ceballos has a future at the club once he’s developed his game further while away on loan.
The Spanish publication says Ceballos will travel to London today to undergo his medical and complete his move to Arsenal with the deal believed to be just a matter of hours away from being finalized.
Spanish journalist Arancha Rodriquez – who works for radio station Cadena COPE – has now informed his 52k Twitter followers that Ceballos is in London and his move to Arsenal is about to be completed.
“The transfer of Ceballos to Arsenal is about to close. The footballer is already in London.” Rodriquez said on Twitter
AS claims Unai Emery played a key role in luring the Spanish Under-21 international to the Emirates after speaking directly with the player over the phone to guarantee him he would be an important part of his first team plans this season.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s friendly with Madrid tonight, Emery dropped a huge hint that the club are on the verge of signing Ceballos on loan and described the midfielder as a ‘very good player’. He told the Daily Mail:
‘We were speaking about the possibility to sign one player for loan. We had different names. The club was working on that.
‘Ceballos is a very good player. I know him from Real Betis at the beginning and Real Madrid.
‘He played very well in the Under 21s, his national team won the competition. He is one eight and 10 player.’
So it looks like Arsenal are closing-in on a deal to sign Ceballos on loan and I think he’ll prove to be an exciting addition who will act as a direct replacement for Aaron Ramsey following his free transfer move to Juventus.
