Transfer deadline day is here and managers are desperately trying to get those last minute deals over the line so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the world. Here, Man Utd are linked with Mario Mandzukic…
Manchester United are locked in talks with Juventus over a potential deal to sign Mario Mandzukic as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, according to the Daily Mail.
Lukaku has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford throughout the summer window and Inter renewed their interest in the Belgian international after his proposed move to Juventus collapsed earlier this week.
Talks with Inter have moved swiftly and the newspaper says Lukaku is currently in Italy undergoing his medical after the San Siro giants agreed a £73m deal with Manchester United chiefs on Wednesday.
It means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in need of a striker and the Daily Mail says United are locked in talks with Juventus over a possible deal for Mandzukic after identifying him as a potential replacement for Lukaku.
The Croatian international has been linked with a move to United recently with the Daily Mail reporting earlier this week that personal terms over a £120,000-a-week contract had been agreed ahead of a potential £15m move.
The paper says negotiations are continuing today as United try to get a deal over the line ahead of today’s 5pm deadline but there have been reports circulating suggesting a move is becoming difficult due to Juve’s reluctance to let Mandzukic leave without having a replacement lined-up.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming hours but Mandzukic would be a solid replacement for Lukaku if Man Utd can get a deal agreed as he’s been one of the best target-men in European football in recent years.
The 33-year-old has vast experience at top club level having enjoyed spells at Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus while the Croatian hitman also has huge pedigree on the international stage.

However, it remains to be seen whether United can get a deal agreed with Juventus so the Mail suggests that Solskjaer could be eyeing a late swoop for Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams – although his release clause is set at a whopping £81m.
