Arsenal made it two wins from two games in Group F of the Europa League with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Standard Liege at the Emirates tonight.
Arsenal made the perfect start as Martinelli opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a lovely header from a tight angle after the Brazilian youngster was found by a superb left wing cross from Kieran Tierney.
Martinelli didn’t take long to double Arsenal’s lead as the South American picked up a loose ball in the area and turned sharply before curling home a wonderful effort into the far corner for 2-0 with 16 minutes gone.
Arsenal were rampant and we made it 3-0 just six minutes later when Joe Willock cooly slotted into the bottom corner before Martinelli teed-up Dani Ceballos to make it 4-0 in the 57th minute with a superb chipped cross.
We had a number of chances to further extend our lead but had to settle for a 4-0 win that sees us move three points clear at the top of Group F and well on course to qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
