FA Cup 3rd round draw: Arsenal, Liverpool & Man Utd handed tough draws
The draw for the 3rd round of the FA Cup has been conducted and Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City and Tottenham have discovered their fate.
The draw for the 3rd round of the FA Cup has been conducted this evening and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City and Tottenham have discovered their fate.
Man City won the competition by thrashing Watford 6-0 in last years final and Pep Guardiola’s men will begin the defence of the trophy when they welcome Port Vale to the Etihad Stadium next month.
Arsenal should have a new permanent manager installed by the time the third round comes around in early January after sacking Unai Emery last week. Whoever is in charge of the Gunners has a tricky test to navigate in the FA Cup as Arsenal have been drawn to face Leeds United – who sit top of the Championship.
Liverpool may have other priorities this season as the run-away Premier League leaders look to win their first title since 1990 and defend their Champions League crown. However, Jurgen Klopp will still want a good run in the FA Cup and they have a huge Merseyside derby to look forward to with Everton heading to Anfield.
Chelsea have a rich history in the FA Cup having won the trophy eight times, including recently in 2018, and Frank Lampard’s side will entertain Nottingham Forest – who are fourth in the Championship.
Man Utd have lifted the FA Cup 12 times in their history but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have been given a tough task in this seasons third round as they’ve been drawn away to Wolves – who they lost to in last year’s competition.
Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a winning start to life at Tottenham since replacing Mauricio Pochettino and he has an excellent record in the FA Cup but Spurs face a tricky trip to Middlesbrough in the 3rd round.
So there are some exciting matches to look forward to and the games will be played between the 3-6th January 2020. Here is the draw in full:
