TRANSFER NEWS: United Target Confirms He Wants Arsenal Move
Manchester United and Arsenal target Maarten Stekelenburg is reported to have opened the door to a move to the Emirates this summer. The Ajax keeper has been muted as a potential replacement for the retiring Van der Sar at Old Trafford and Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the 28-year old.
However, if recent quotes are to be believed then it seems Stekelenburg would prefer a move to the Gunenrs. Italian newspaper Tuttosport quote the Dutchman as saying:
“If an offer from Arsenal arrives, I will leave.”
Arsenal fans have endured years of goalkeeping problems with Arsene Wenger struggling to find a reliable replacement for Jens Lehman, but with the rise to prominence of youngster Wojciech Szczesny this season it may be a surprise should Wenger make a move for Stekelenburg in the summer, leaving United in pole position.
