Tottenham vs Man City: Betting preview with odds and predicted score
Manchester City will be desperate to come away with all three points when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester City will be desperate to come away with all three points when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Sunday afternoon.
Defending champions City haven’t had things their way this season as they currently sit second in the Premier League table at the half way stage. They’ve been battling it out with Liverpool in recent years, but this campaign has seen Jurgen Klopp’s men fall away with a rejuvenated Arsenal emerging as City’s closest rivals for the title.
Mikel Arteta’s men have enjoyed a sensational first half of the season and currently sit five points clear of Man City at the top of the table. The gap could be eight points by the time City face Spurs on Sunday so Pep Guardiola’s men will be under pressure to respond.
Tottenham find themselves in an uncomfortable situation as they know victory would help their fierce rivals in the title race. However, Antonio Conte’s side have their own targets to worry about as they battle to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Spurs sit fifth in the table, three points adrift of Man Utd and Newcastle having played an extra game, so the Londoners desperately need a positive result this weekend to boost their top four hopes.
Betting
According to the Premier Bet Tanzania app Man City are the narrow favourites with the bookmakers to win this match. Hosts Tottenham can be backed at longer odds to claim all three points – which is interesting considering their good form against City in recent years.
Erling Haaland has been in sensational form this season and he’s the favourite to open the scoring on Sunday. Harry Kane cannot be forgotten and he looks good value at eleven to two to be the first scorer.
Team news
Tottenham will hand a late fitness test to Richarlison as the Brazilian international is struggling with a pelvic injury. Midfielder Pape Sarr is ruled out with a hip injury while Lucas Moura is still working his way back from a calf injury.
As for Manchester City, they have virtually a fully fit squad to choose from. John Stones is the only guaranteed absentee as the defender is out with a thigh injury that he sustained against Arsenal last week. Phil Foden is expected to be passed fit from a minor ankle issue.
Prediction
Man City came from two-goals down to beat Tottenham 4-2 in the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium last month. Spurs proved they can get at City during that game and will be quietly confident of securing a positive result on home soil.
However, City know they cannot lose or they risk being eight points adrift of Arsenal if the Gunners beat Everton on Saturday. Guardiola’s side haven’t been at their free-flowing best at times this season and this will be a very tough game for the defending champions.
It should be another exciting game and we’re going to sit on the fence and predict a 2-2 draw. Tottenham 2-2 Man City
