Arsenal desperately need to get back to winning ways when they take on a beleaguered Chelsea side at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Gunners were flying high at the top of the Premier League table and on-course to win their first title in almost 20 years. However, the wheels have fallen off in recent weeks and they are winless in their last four games.
Arsenal blew two-goal leads to draw away to Liverpool and West Ham before finding themselves 3-1 down at home to bottom club Southampton with 88 minutes on the clock. The Gunners managed to score twice late on to salvage a 3-3 draw but it was still a disastrous result for the league leaders heading into their crunch clash with Man City.
Mikel Arteta’s men were then blown away by the defending champions 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night. Arsenal still sit two points clear at the top of the table but City have two games in hand and the destiny of the title is now firmly in their hands.
The Gunners cannot afford any more slip ups and have to win their five remaining games if they’re to stand any chance of winning the title, so Arteta will be demanding a response from his players on Tuesday night against Chelsea.
The Blues make the short trip across London off the back of a shocking run of results that’s seen them lose six of their last seven games in all competitions. A hapless 2-0 home defeat to Brentford on Wednesday night has left Chelsea sitting 11th in the table – 14 points off the European qualification places – so they have very little left to play for.
Betting odds
Understandably, Arsenal are the red hot 6/10 favourites with the bookmakers to win this game. You can back Chelsea at odds of 4/1 if you fancy a shock at the Emirates Stadium while the draw is available at 31/10 if you think the points will be shared.
Supports who like to play twin spin slots or roulette may want a bit more value and are happy to take risks with their money. Predicting the correct score may be more appealing to these fans, and a 2-0 Arsenal win looks tempting at odds of 13/2. If you think the Gunners are really going to hammer their London rivals, a 3-0 win is 11/1.
Bukayo Saka has been one of Arsenal’s best players all season and the England international is 11/2 to open the scoring in this game. If we back Saka to score first in a 2-0 Arsenal win, we can get odds of 34/1.
Arsenal haven’t been the same team defensively since losing William Saliba, so you may fancy Chelsea to score at least once. Both team to Score is on at odds of 4/5. If you back Arsenal to win with BTTS then the odds increase to 12/5.
Prediction
Arsenal look like they’ve blow their chance to win the title but Arteta won’t want to give up just yet. They need to just win their games and hope City slip up, and the Gunners should be confident of getting back to winning ways in this game against a beleaguered Chelsea side.
You can never discount the Blues as they still have a squad packed with quality and this is a London derby so anything can happen, but we’re still backing Arsenal to win on Tuesday night. Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea
