Arsenal will look to keep their slim title hopes alive with a win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday evening. Here is a betting preview ahead of the game….
The Gunners lead the Premier League table for much of the season and only a few weeks ago it looked like they were going to push on to clinch their first title since 2004. However, a disastrous run of form in April saw their once eight-point lead over Man City evaporate. A 4-1 defeat to the defending champions at the Etihad Stadium meant Arsenal picked up just three points from a possible 12 following draws with Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton.
Mikel Arteta’s side got back to winning ways with impressive victories over Chelsea and Newcastle United, but all-but handed the title to City after a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton last weekend. Man City had beaten Everton 3-0 just before Arsenal’s clash with Brighton, and they now sit four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
City boast a much better goal difference, so it means Arsenal need the Cityzens to take a maximum of one point from their remaining three games against Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford to clinch the title. The Gunners will also need to win their remaining two games, starting with victory over Forest this weekend.
However, that may not be as easy as it sounds as Forest are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table. They currently sit 16th with 34 points but they’re just three points off the relegation zone so a win on Saturday would secure their Premier League status for another year.
Betting odds
Premier League games are popular in betting markets all over the world so there will be plenty of interest in this match. At some of the best online casino singapore, baccarat tournament monthly prizes are on offer and they also offer new customer bonuses, so it’s worth checking them out before placing any bets.
Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are the odds-on favourites with the bookmakers to win this game with betting sites offering odds of 11/20 on an away win. Nottingham Forest can be backed at odds of 9/2 and given Arsenal’s have very little left to play for, some may be tempted to back the hosts. A draw is available at odds of 7/2.
- Forest win 9/2
- Draw 7/2
- Arsenal win 11/20
Arsenal’s away form has been excellent all season and they have had no problems putting the ball in the net, so they’ll be confident of getting on the scoresheet this weekend. Their problem has been defensively so Forest should also create plenty of goalscoring opportunities and Both team to Score is a good bet at 8/13.
Over 2.5 match goals should also come in at odds of 8/15. If you want to bet on the exact score, then a 2-1 Arsenal win looks good at 13/2. Add Gabriel Jesus as the first goalscorer at 4/1 for even more value.
Prediction
It’s difficult to know how Arsenal will react following their result against Brighton as the players will know the title has gone. Their lack of motivation and disappointment could play into Forest’s hands and they may fancy their chances of causing an upset.
However, Arsenal’s team is still packed with quality and they’ll want to end the season on a positive note. We think the Gunners will edge it 2-1 at the City Ground. Forest 1-2 Arsenal
