Former Manchester United No1 Edwin van der Sar believes his replacement David de Gea will have no problems in the spotlight at Old Trafford.
The recently retired Dutchman ended his glittering career this summer and believes the 20-year old replacement is the ideal candidate for the No1 jersey.
“They scouted all over Europe and found a couple of targets and they chose de Gea,” he told ESPN Star.
“Hopefully he’s going to have a great career at Manchester United.
“He’s very talented. He’s already won a trophy with Atletico Madrid and the Spain Under-21 team so the prospect [to do well] is there.
“Everybody has to be his own person [but] I’ve met him. I’ve spoken to him and it looks to me that he can handle it.”
The Young Spaniard has been tipped for a great future in the game and has already been touted as the future national goalkeeper, but faces stiff competition from Casillas, 30 and Reina, 28 who are in the peaks of their career with Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively.
