Finally, Andre Villas-Boas has promised some spending on Chelsea’s part. So far, this summer is turning out to be a frustrating one. Yes, we signed Fernando Torres and David Luiz only six months ago, but still, to see the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool spend big money – while we remain dormant – is hurting a bit.

We are yet to make a proper signing, although it is not for the lack of interest in players like Modric and Lukaku. Chief executive Ron Gourlay said that at least two new signings would be made within 10 days. Now, Andre Villas-Boas has given the biggest hint that we will finally splash some cash.

“The players we have shown interest in are young and looking to the future of the club but you might see similar moves in the future from us. It is one of the oldest squads in the Premier League. We respect them and we are happy enough with the quality that we have to challenge for the title but we are also looking into the future.”

There is plenty of time remaining in this transfer window. Even if Chelsea do not make the sort of extravagant signings like in January 2011, it is vital to bring in some new faces especially considering that the African Cup of Nations is also looming.

  1. Pls AVS, u have to make the signings or we can’t afford the repeat of last season. Give us modric and Falcao to make the team more formidable.

Be patient Chelsea fans, be patient…… AVB doesn’t want to rush into things, we have to make signings that improve the team, not just increase the number of players in our squad. AVB is young and smart, he’s got new ideas that he’s got to implement. Give him the time

I like to know why we let go of Aguero after chasing him for 2 years. I thought we’d be snapping him up. I would have loved Pastore to join us but he’s now gone to PSG. Falcao’s signed a new deal. City will be a real force and i think Liverpool and ManU recognise this. …I guess AVB must have a plan. So I’ve resigned to bite the bullit and wait annd see what this is. Although its been extremely frustrating …

a part of me is liking this that we havnt rushed into the market as this might mean that AVB has long term plans for chelsea to actually build a solid squad that can work with eachother and ambrovich is backing him on it. All our other managers have come in spent big and gone again. AVB isnt spending big and sending all our young players out on loan or releasing them. he as tied them down to long term contracts and playing them in pre-season and hopefully he can form a squad of experienced players and youth and talent that we have made not spent £50-£100million. then if there are gaps in the squad and we dont have good enough young players then we go into the market and buy players. But then a part of me is annoyed that we havnt signed aguero and other players but patience is the key.

@ ayodeji, i dont think u have sence, do u think u just buy cloth that doesn’t suit u just because is fitted…. We have world class player that u can mention in line. Pete, lampand, drogba. All what we need is good understanding of the players and the coach and injury free then u see then best of them.

AVB is okey hu does he rush into market minus assesing what he has, if he is to buy then who is leaving. its not just the matter of buying but the matter of knowing who needs to leave and who needs to come. AVB is ok he knows what his is doing.

Firstly, @ ayodeji you are very stupid with your comments and easily given up destiny.signing or no singning, we have good embles trophies.understanding among the players and the coach is the only key. AVB should look 4 one playmaker to replace Essen and dat should be Modric. BLUES 4LIFE
