Steven Gerrard’s ankle is infected following a kick to it in training in mid-week, it seemed to be healing but it swelled up on Saturday morning requiring treatment and further surgery this week.
I had a similar injury myself years ago when I bought a new pair of Doc Martin’s shoes and new socks in a bid to impress the ladies. It back-fired, the shoes cut into my heel and I bled, plus I soon started limping.
I had to be admitted to Middlesex General Hospital and I was diagnosed with early gangrene, I was admitted and immediately put on a drip with anti-biotics, they cleaned out the wound (agony) and I was discharged after four days. The reason the doctors gave me for the infection was that I had worn new socks and the manufacturer’s dye had got into my blood-stream.
I reckon the same thing may have happened to Liverpool’s Captain. You jog out for a training session in clean kit, brand new gear and bang, you get a cut to your foot, open wound and the dye seeps in causing an infection.
It took me a week or more to get back on my feet again and I am sure Stevie will too.

Well thanks for that doctor, its not 1950 and socks are not dyed, they are made from synthetics which do not need to be dyed, rofl.

how do you think the synthetics are coloured?
Dye or pigment in the fibres, it’s the same thing
However an infection is caused by bacteria not by pigments, dyes or any other colouring so Iguess the writer either heard the doctor wrong, or said doctor is still probably chuckling about how he convinced somebody they got an infection from a chemical

conventional dye of the sort this guy is talking about is not used, end of,and you cant get a bacterial infection from socks, unless they are dirty from say mud, probably the answer, not a nylon sock infection!

Oh and btw,dye does not “seep out” of modern nylon synthetics ffs!
Ged

oh and ffs I did not say it was dyed or that dyes seep out of modern nylon synthetics ffs
In any case they are unlikely to be nylon – what type of socks do you wear if they are nylon? Let me guess, they’re called tights by everybody else? Ffs

FYI- on football socks
They are made of 100% Nylon
–before you gob off,do some research Ged.

?? Football socks are oftem made of 100% nylon or a mix of polyester and elastic. The dye is fixed to the synthetic and does not seep off.
infections are caused by bacteria not clothing.
Yes tights are made of nylon,as are socks, pants trousers shirts and lots of other things.

The doctor indeed may be right. The dye seeps into the wound,it’s treated as a foreign body by d body system leading to inflammation. The bacteria on d skin may be responsible 4 d INFECTION and no1 says the new socks are STERILE,so they may carry some Bacteria capable of causing infexn as well. So he may b right.
Ged

if something is sterile then by definition it doesn’t carry bacteria
Socks cannot be sterile uinless they are irradiated and sealed. The dye or pigments are of course tested that they are not harmful otherwise they would have lawsuits from millions, not just one footballer
Stevie just finished his treatment for a groin infection, so are his underpants not creating an infection?
It’s obvious that he still has an infection in his body that is flaring up at the site of any incision, could be inside his body already, could be that he doesn’t wash properly, could be that he has a superbug picked up from his operation that is proving difficult to shift
All of these things without inventing highly improbable stories about commercial products just affecting one footballer and not many others

Am I just old school, educated or out of step? I can’t remember there being a d in the word “the” etc.
Sorry, I just find it very hard to follow comments written in gangster language. If it was cockney slang or something, then I might be able to follow easier….lol

dont see any reson to sook like babies
it’s not slang, or the ‘way’ you speak you just can’t spell, end of
Where in your modern parlance is the use of ‘thing’ for think, or reson instead of ‘reason’
At least people from early 1900 would understand the person you are replying to but I very much doubt that you would be understood

Too much sex mate, doing with a female the “normal” way like must of us men, wouldn’t give this problem. Haha

i was thinking the same at first until i saw him in his cast, you dnt put a cast on your ankle for fun. Ive had a cast on in the past and its the most annoying thing to have on.
P.S congrats on the new baby im sure the new arrival will take his mind of his ankle
