Man City Set To Cash In On Chelsea Star
Manchester City are due a windfall from Chelsea with Daniel Sturridge expected to start in England’s friendly against Sweden tonight.
The Daily Mail says Danny Sturridge’s senior debut will trigger a £1million clause from Chelsea to Manchester City, the final instalment of a £6.5m transfer fee settled at a tribunal last year.
Chelsea paid £3.5m for Sturridge, followed by £500,000 for every 10 matches up to 40. The 22-year-old is through the 40-game barrier for his club and the final add-on is for a senior England cap, which should be achieved by Sturridge tonight.
The additional fee that City are expected to receive will be sufficient to cover Sergio Aguero’s wages for one month.
