Arsenal have been boosted with the news that midfielder Abou Diaby has retured from injury earlier than expected and may feature against Borussia Dortmund.
Diaby has not played since having surgery on an ankle injury picked up in the summer and has had several knockbacks on his way back to fitness. It was feared he would not be fit for first team football until well in to December, but the Frenchman has managed to return ahead of schedule and is in the squad to face Dortmund tonight.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger expressed his pleasure at being able to call upon Diaby’s services again, having been without him since June:
I am very happy. It’s been a little bit quicker than expected because he looked good in training, so it’s good to have him back.
