The agent of Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen has responded to recent transfer rumours linking his client with a move to England.
Eriksen has become one of Europe’s most sought-after youngsters after impressing for Ajax and the Danish national team during the past 18 months.
The majority of Europe’s elite have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old and with the January transfer window approaching, the rumour mills have been in over-drive suggesting he was set for a January move.
Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Tottenham have all been credited with interest and earlier this week Man Utd coach Rene Meulensteen confirmed the Red Devils were monitoring the player.
However, Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, has responded to the rumours claiming a transfer is not a priority for his client at this time, and that he will carefully consider his next move before leaving Ajax. Schoots also confirmed Eriksen rejected the advances of an un-named English team in the summer.
“Christian must weigh up every step he takes in his career,” said Martin Schoots.
“He gave a lot of thought to joining Ajax. Last summer he could have gone to England, and a German club was very keen, but he passed the opportunity up.
“He has signed a contract at Ajax and a transfer is not an issue at the moment.”
