Arsenal Transfer News: Lazio Linked With £6m Arshavin – Should We Sell?
Another day and another transfer news story to bring you, this time the Mirror are running a story saying Lazio are interested in signing Andrey Arshavin for £6m
Morning Gooners. Another day and another transfer news story to bring you, this time the Mirror are running an exclusive saying Lazio are interested in signing Andrey Arshavin for £6m.
The report claims the Italians are ready to make their move and hope a reduced offer of £6m will be enough to persuade Arsenal in to selling the 30-year-old, who has only 18 months left on his current contract.
Like many Arsenal fans, i have grown frustrated at Arshavin’s lacklustre performances and would gladly see the Russian sold this month, but only if Arsene Wenger brought in a ready-made replacement.
Andrey has shown glimpses of quality in recent weeks, with a couple of nice assists for Van Persie against Fulham and Swansea, but he rarely looks interested and is visibly lacking in confidence.
I think it’s time for a change and a move might suit both the player and Arsenal. But Wenger would have to sign a replacement this month and i can’t see any deal being agreed for Arshavin before Wenger finds that replacement.
Thierry Henry will hopefully start on the left once he regains full match fitness but he’s only here for a month so a long term alternative to Gervinho is required.
If Arsenal decide to keep Arshavin, i think we should at least give him a chance to regain his form and the only way to do that is to play him in a central position behind Van Persie. Arshavin doesn’t like playing on the left and it clearly isn’t working. Ramsey isn’t creative enough to play in the advanced midfield role so let’s try Andrey in there and either play Henry or Chamberlain on the left, or preferably sign someone new.
What do Gooners think? Should Arshavin be sold? If so, who should be brought in to replace him?
