Barcelona Reject Van Persie Reports

Spanish giants Barcelona have rejected rumours linking them with a move for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been quoted by Sky Sports News as saying any rumours suggesting they have held talks with the Dutchman are wide of the mark, and they are only focussed on winning the La Liga and Copa del Rey and not on the summer transfer market:
“Nothing exists with RVP,”
“It’s rumours that appear in the papers. We’ve not contacted Arsenal, nor his agent.
“Our focus is now on the Liga and Copa del Rey.
“It’s necessary to be focused on the task at hand and not be distracted by the transfer market.”
Van Persie’s contract situation is a huge cause for concern as by the time the summer comes around, he’ll only have 12 months left on his current deal. If he refuses to agree a new contract, we’ll most likely be forced to sell as we did with Nasri and Clichy.
As expected, the rumours of a move to Barca have already started and the Mirror ran a story a couple of days ago suggesting they were already planning their move.
If Van Persie does decide to leave the Emirates this summer it would be a far bigger blow than when either Henry or Fabregas left, in my opinion. But the good news is, if he does leave i can only see him going to Real Madrid or Barcelona, and not to Man City.
