Van Persie Speaks Out On Real Madrid Interest
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has been quoted by ESPN as responding to transfer rumours linking him with a £30m summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Evening Gooners. Our beloved captain Robin van Persie has been quoted as responding to rumours linking him with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
ESPN quote the Dutchman as saying he’s happy to hear of interest from Real Madrid and that he would be excited to play there, but he doubts Arsenal would be willing to sell.
If the quotes on are accurate, it’s not good to hear RVP openly discussing a potential move midway through a season. Here’s what van Persie is supposed to have said:
“I am happy to hear of the interest of a club as important as Real Madrid,”
“Of course I would be excited to play there.” However, he added: “I do not think Arsenal will be willing to negotiate.”

This comes off the back of reports in yesterday’s Daily Mail claiming Real are lining up a £30m summer move for the 28-year-old, a figure that i personally find laughable given the quality of Van Persie and his current form.
With 22 goals in just 24 league games this season, and at the peak of his career, i would be gutted if Arsenal lost van Persie for anything less than £50m. We got absolutely walked over by Barcelona for the Fabregas deal and IF van Persie decides it’s time to move on in the summer, we need to get top-dollar for him.
However, i am suspicious over these supposed quotes. They originate from Spanish-based newspaper Marca, who regularly run transfer stories relating to Real Madrid and i wouldn’t be surprised if his words have been twisted in some way. Take these reports with a pinch of salt is my advice.
