Arsenal Injury Update: Wilshere Progressing ‘Slowly’
Boss Arsene Wenger has given an update on the fitness of Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin ahead of Arsenal’s match with Manchester City on Sunday
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given an update on the fitness of Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin ahead of the Gunners match with Manchester City on Sunday.
Wilshere has been out for the entire season so far with an ankle injury but it was hoped he could return to play some part in our run in. He suffered a set back in his recovery last time he was closing in on a return, so Wenger is understandably being more cautious with him this time. But the boss has described Wilshere’s progress as “normal” but slow.
Diaby is another one who has seen his season interrupted by a series of injury problems. The Frenchman has only played 30 minutes of first team action this season and despite playing for the reserves recently, Wenger confirmed the midfielder is not yet ready to be considered for first team duty.
Francis Coquelin is also still out but it’s hoped he will be back in training next week. Here is what Arsene told Arsenal.com:
on the team news for Sunday…
There is nobody out or in because Diaby is not ready, Coquelin is not ready, so the squad available will be the same as last week.
on the progress of Coquelin and Diaby
Hopefully they will both be back in training next week.
on Jack Wilshere…
Jack is progressing normally but slowly.
