Liverpool Chairman Hints At Move For Arsenal & Spurs Target Dempsey
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has hinted the Reds are interested in signing Arsenal and Tottenham target Clint Dempsey this summer, according to reports today
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has hinted the Reds are interested in signing Arsenal and Tottenham target Clint Dempsey this summer.
Dempsey has been in sensational form this season for Fulham, scoring 22 goals in 42 games in all competitions for the Cottagers. However, the 29-year-old will enter the final year of his contract this summer and is yet to agree fresh terms, prompting speculation over his future.
The Daily Mail recently reported that Arsenal and Tottenham were among the clubs interested in signing the American this summer, but the North London duo could face competition from Liverpool judging by their chairman’s comments today.
Quoted in the Metro, Werner confirmed the club will be working hard to improve the squad this summer and hinted at a move for Dempsey by saying that any team would be lucky to have him in their squad.
‘We never talk publicly about our transfer targets. However, any team would be lucky to have Clint Dempsey playing on their squad.’
Werner is quoted as saying in the Metro
Dempsey would be an excellent addition to any squad and after almost five years at Fulham, he has earned a move to a bigger club. But at 29 and with only one year remaining on his current deal, it’s unlikely the West Londoners will be able to command a huge fee for him, despite his superb goal-scoring form this season.
So Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs could bag themselves something of a bargain this summer, and a player who is proven in the Premier League.
