Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Steve Bould will replace Pat Rice as his No.2 at the end of the season.
Rice will step down from his role as assistant manager at the end of the current campaign, after the crucial game against West Brom at the Hawthorns on Sunday.
It has been widely expected that Rice would leave and many names have been thrown around as potential replacements, including Tony Adams, Dennis Bergkamp and even Jens Lehman! But speaking at his weekly press conference on Thursday, Wenger confirmed that it is in fact Bould who will step up and become his right hand man.
Quoted in the Telegraph, Wenger confirmed the news:
“I always want to give a chance to people who know how we coach.
“Steve is a very good coach and brings a continuation of our philosophy.”
Bould has done an excellent job as the Arsenal youth team boss but will now be promoted once Rice ends his 44 year association with the Gunners.
Congratulations Bouldy, and farewell Pat. You’re a true Gunners legend!
