Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has provided an injury and team news update ahead of Sunday’s vital clash against West Brom.
The Gunners go into the final game of the season knowing that a win over WBA, in what will be Roy Hodgson’s final game before taking up his role as England boss, will secure that all-important third spot and with it, automatic qualification to next seasons Champions League.
Speaking to Arsenal.com on Thursday afternoon, Wenger confirmed that Theo Walcott faces a late fitness test on his hamstring injury but could yet make the squad. There are doubts over Park, Squillaci and Santos for the game but all three should be available.
The boss also revealed that Bacary Sagna will undergo surgery tonight on his broken fibula and will be out of action for a number of months. here is what Arsene told Arsenl.com:
on Theo Walcott…
He will have a test [on his hamstring]. I don’t know yet if he will be included in the squad or not. It is possible.
on other team news for Sunday…
We have little doubts about Park, Squillaci and Santos but they should all be ready.
on Bacary Sagna…
He will have surgery tonight. It is a straight broken fibula. We expect him to be out for a few months but let’s see how surgery goes tonight.
So the squad is in reasonable shape going into the final game of the season. Let’s secure the three points and enjoy our summer! COYG
