Hopes of Yann M’Vila Joining Arsenal Fading Fast
Arsenal may have missed their chance to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila this summer after it’s been revealed two major european sides have enquired about him
The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news involving Arsenal. Today, it looks like the Gunners face a fight to land Yann M’Vila.
Arsenal will face stiff competition to land Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila this summer.
Several reports over the past few weeks have suggested that Arsenal were on the verge of landing the 21-year-old, and the transfer seemed nothing more than a formality. So much so, that you’d have been forgiven for heading over to www.freebets.org.uk to place a cheeky bet on M’Vila being a Gunner next season.
Despite the Telegraph claiming a £17.7m deal was all but secured, a transfer was never completed before the player jetted off to Poland and Ukraine with the France squad for Euro 2012 and M’Vila decided to put off any talk over his future until after the championships were concluded.
Now it looks like the Gunners may have missed their chance to sign the highly-rated midfielder, as Goal.com believe that two un-named European sides have contacted Rennes in recent days to enquire about signing the young Frenchman, and with him now being in the shop window at the Euro’s, it’s likely the competition for his signature will intensify further.
M’Vila has just finished a fine season with Rennes, where he played in all 38 games as the French outfit finished in an impressive sixth place in Ligue 1, but has made it clear he’d like to move to one of Europe’s elite this summer.
FT Verdict
It does look like our inability to move quickly in the transfer market and finalise a deal swiftly could mean we miss out on a top quality player, once again. Juan Mata anyone?

M’Vila was there for the taking and a few weeks ago i thought he was pretty much an Arsenal player already, given the reports that were circulating. But he is now firmly in the shop window and the increased competition for his signature leaves me thinking he’ll be off somewhere else this summer. When will we learn?
