Samir Nasri Linked With Move Back To Arsenal, LOL
Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has been linked with a possible move back to former side Arsenal this summer. Find out the details of the transfer rumour
With the transfer window now open, we’ll bring you all the latest transfer news. Today, we’ve got one of the more comical rumours doing the rounds as Samir Nasri is linked with a move back to Arsenal!
Samir Nasri has been linked with a possible move back to former side Arsenal this summer. That’s right, Nasri back to Arsenal! ‘Silly season’ has truly begun. For those of you who have finished laughing, the story goes like this.
The Metro are reporting that Manchester City are ready to offload the Frenchman this summer after boss Roberto Mancini was left distinctly unimpressed with Nasri’s contribution last season following his £25m move from Arsenal 12 months ago.
While the report stops short of saying Nasri has been transfer listed, they do claim that City will listen to offers and suggest that Arsene Wenger will be interested in bringing him back to the Emirates.
Nasri made 45 appearances in all competitions last season for City, scoring just 6 goals, and was nowhere near as influential as he was during his final year with the Gunners, so it’s easy to see why Mancini would be left a little under-whelmed. But to suggest a possible move back to Arsenal is ludicrous.
Nasri’s exit from Arsenal was one of the messiest in recent memory. He did, and has continued to, make verbal attacks on Arsenal fans and has constant digs at the club whenever the opportunity presents itself. He has become a hate figure in North London. Put simply, Nasri wouldn’t be welcome back at Arsenal.
But let’s just pretend for a second that he was, how on earth do the Metro think Arsenal would be able to afford Nasri’s over-inflated salary? Or even afford the price-tag that City would demand? Which no doubt will be far higher than the fee we received now he’s tied down to a long-term deal at the Etihad.
The whole story is hilarious, but entertaining nonetheless. I’m just waiting for the Adebayor to Arsenal rumour to start up!
