United Bid £38m For Neymar? Not According To Santos
Santos director of football Felipe Faro has denied that Manchester United made a £38m bid to try and sign Brazilian starlet Neymar on transfer deadline day.
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Man Utd are linked with Neymar.
Santos have denied that Manchester United made a last ditch £38m bid to sign Brazilian starlet Neymar, according to Sky Sports News.
The Sun reported that United made a record offer for the Santos ace on transfer deadline day but it was rejected by the 20-year-old, who said he wanted to remain in Brazil until after his country hosted the 2014 World Cup.
It was understood that United switched their attention to Neymar after missing out on fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura. Sir Alex Ferguson saw a £32m bid for the midfielder rejected before he eventually joined French giants PSG last month for £38m.
However, Santos football director Felipe Faro has dismissed these reports:
“I have no idea where that came from, but it’s not true.”
Faro is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
