Man Utd Transfer News: Reds Target ‘South American Ronaldo’
Manchester United are lining-up a move for Porto winger James Rodriquez as a replacement for unsettled Portugal star Nani, who’s attracting interest from Italy
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Manchester United are linked with a move for James Rodriguez.
Manchester United are lining-up a move for Porto winger James Rodriquez as a replacement for unsettled Portugal star Nani, according to the Mirror.
The 21-year-old Rodriguez – who’s been nicknamed as the ‘South American Cristiano Ronaldo’ – has become one of Europe’s most highly-rated youngsters after a string of impressive performances for Porto.
The Colombian international is aware of United’s interest and has recently called the Premier League giants ‘a great club’. He said:
“We all know that Manchester United are a great club,”
“England is a great league but I’m thinking of Porto for now. We’re having a good time and personally I’m feeling fine and am focused on there.”
Rodriguez is quoted as saying in the Mirror
United’s interest in Rodriguez casts further doubt over the long-term future of Nani with the Mirror claiming Juventus and AC Milan are battling it out to land the winger for a cut-price £12.5m.
Nani was linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after United stalled on offering him a new deal and the Italian duo are keen to land the 25-year-old.
Nani has clocked up over 200 appearances since joining Man Utd in 2007 but has fallen out-of-favour with Sir Alex Ferguson after putting in a string of inconsistent performances over the past 12 months.
