Frustrated Hernandez Set For £8m Move?
Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is an £8m target for Italian outfit Fiorentina, with the Mexican growing frustrated at his lack of action this season
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Hernandez is linked with a move to Italy.
Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is an £8m target for Italian outfit Fiorentina, according to the Mirror.
The Mexican hitman impressed during his first season at United and was expected to go on and become an important first team player at Old Trafford.
However, the 24-year-old has struggled over the past 12 months and has fallen behind the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck in Sir Alex Ferguson’s pecking order.
This has lead to speculation over his long-term future and Fiorentina are ready to offer him a way out of Old Trafford with the promise of regular first team football.
Hernandez signed a new five-year contract off the back of his impressive debut season but the Mirror claim he is now growing frustrated at his bit-part role at United after only making one Premier league start this season and may be ready to consider his future.
However, Fiorentina are willing to match ‘Chicharito’s’ £80,000-a-week wages but are only willing to pay around £8m – a figure that is likely to be well below United’s valuation.
When quizzed on his future this week, Hernandez remained coy and insisted his only focus is on Man Utd:
“My challenge is to play and win titles with Manchester United.”
Hernandez is quoted as saying by the Mirror
However, his focus may change if his first team opportunities don’t improve soon, with Fiorentina ready to pounce.
