Manchester United welcome Queens Park Rangers to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon and manager Sir Alex Ferguson has given an injury update ahead of the game.
Ferguson gave the latest on Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Nani as United prepare to face former striker and QPR boss Mark Hughes, who’s side currently prop-up the Premier League table.
The good news is that Wayne Rooney is available again after missing the last two games with toncillitis, but he has trained all week and is back in contention this weekend.
Defender Evans is expected to train on Friday but is still rated as doubtful for the game on Saturday. Chris Smalling should be fit despite picking up a minor shoulder injury during Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray, but Nani remains on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.
Here is what Sir Alex told ManUtd.com.
“Wayne Rooney is fit, he had tonsillitis but has been training all week, which is good. Jonny Evans will hopefully train today but I don’t know if he will be available for tomorrow. Chris Smalling had a small shoulder injury on Tuesday night.
“I wanted to play Phil Jones anyway – at least the two of them are back because I thought Jones did very well in his first game back, which is really good news. Nani is not available yet, he’s not fit yet. He’s still got a little problem with his hamstring.”
