Manchester City closed the gap on leaders Manchester United to seven points with a controversial 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates.
The game’s first major turning point came in just the 10th minute when Laurent Koscielny was sent off for hauling down Eden Dzeko inside the box but the striker saw the resulting penalty saved. However, it didn’t take long for City to make their man advantage count as James Milner opened the scoring with a fine finish.
The game was all-but over in the 32nd minute when Dzeko was on hand to tap home from close range after Szczesny had saved a Tevez effort. The visitors were reduced to 10-men themselves with 10 minutes to go when Vincent Kompany was given his marching orders for a challenge on Wilshere, although replay’s showed it may have been a harsh decision.
