Wenger Hints At Late January Signings

With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Arsene Wenger is ready to leave it late to bring new players to Arsenal.

It looks like the boss is going to keep us waiting for new signings after hinting he will make his moves in the market during the final week, or possibly even few days, of the January transfer window.

Despite being linked to a whole host of names in recent weeks, we’ve yet to bring in any new faces to the Emirates with two weeks remaining until the window slams shut.

Speaking to Arsenal.com today, Arsene Wenger has hinted that he is waiting until the final stages of the month to make his moves as he believes that’s when 90% of the deals are done due to the prices being driven down.

“The prices go always up at the start of the transfer window and go down in the last week,”

“Sometimes as well they go up in the last week but it depends. Most of the time they go down. You know that 90 per cent of transfer activity happens in the last week if not in the last 48 hours.”

Wenger told Arsenal.com

Typical Arsene, waiting until the last minute to try and bag himself a bargain. I’ve never been a fan of this myself. I really think it’s counter-productive in the end. If we need players, which we clearly do, and we play seven games in January, wouldn’t it be smarter to have those new players on board and contributing to the team as soon as possible? Even if it meant we paid a few extra million for them?

If Wenger had gone out and conducted his business early, who knows, we may have beaten Swansea first time around or got something from the City game and we would be stronger going into crunch games with Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool. Chelsea got Ba in early and he’s scored 3 in 3, Liverpool got Sturridge in early and he’s got 2 in 2. I just can’t see how it doesn’t make sense to try and get your targets in as early as possible so they can get settled asap.

But as long as the boss brings in the right players in the end, I’ll be happy. The club’s official website suggests there will be ‘significant movement’ in the coming weeks but we’ll have to see if this comes to fruition. A defensive midfielder, versatile defender and a striker are needed in my opinion but I think we’ll be lucky if we get two in.

Wenger was quizzed on his interest in Edinson Cavani and Wilfried Zaha today, you can see what he said by clicking here.

Yawn …… yes Arsene we’ve heard it all before.
And as usual you have completely contradicted yourself.
The price goes up as soon as you show an interest.
Don’t dither and delay be decisive
You do know what you are doing…don’t you?

Same old crap. Building the fans hopes up to leave them dissapointed at the end of January. I never believe what he says anymore. Love wenger but my patience is running thin. Too many lies and false promises

Aw is a talkative, he should just shotup his mouth, if he dosn’t know what to say. He has been in d tranfer market scorting n mationing names for other clubs to buy, is better for him not to mation names of player dat he wll never buy! Am sick nd tired of all dis promises everyday from aka glue. In shot am not happy in dis our transfer ploicy, every day n every season we,the fans must complain about dis, is only God dat knows wht arsenal fans are passing through right now. I only pray one day God wll see us through, but for sure, i remain gunner, nd gunner wll i ever be for life.

Please write readable English otherwise just bugger off. Even primitive bushmen and little children write better than you. Just being an Arsenal fan does not give you the righ to gibberish.

le prof is just fooling us, at the end he may just buy Zaha, not cavani, he is too expensive for arsenal if wenger is in charge, what of his personal terms ? Even if the transfer fee is agreed by Napoli.
