Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon claims that Jose Mourinho will join French giants PSG in the summer despite reports suggesting he’ll return to Chelsea
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has told talkSPORT that Jose Mourinho will join French giants Paris Saint Germain in the summer, despite reports suggesting he’s set for a return to Stamford Bridge.
Calderon claims that Mourinho is on the verge of leaving the Bernabeu after a series of dressing room bust up’s with senior Spanish players has left his position almost untenable, while the Portuguese coaches attitude and constant moaning about referees and injuries is also understood to have caused a divide amongst the hierarchy at the club.
talkSPORT suggest Mourinho has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, where he enjoyed a hugely successful three years between 2004 and 2007, but Calderon claims the 50-year-old is in fact set for a move to big-spending French outfit PSG in the summer.
“Real Madrid have a problem with Jose Mourinho’s attitude,” “We are not used to a coach who complains about referees, UEFA and injuries. It’s something I don’t like. We are used to talking about what’s happening on the field.
“It seems he’s going to leave and it looks like he’s off to Paris St Germain. He says he’s going to stay but I don’t think so. Things have gone too far and Real Madrid are not willing to accept any more of his behaviour.”
“Some of the players, mainly the Spanish stars, are not happy with his sort of behaviour,” he added. “They are not used to it. They don’t like the attitude.” he told talkSPORT’s Keys and Gray.
Calderon also revealed he rejected the chance to bring Mourinho to Madrid when he was still at the club and insists current Madrid president Florentino Perez must shoulder the blame for the current problems as he was the one who eventually brought the former Porto man to the Bernabeu. He added:
“I have always said it is the president’s [Florentino Perez] fault. Jose Mourinho isn’t cheating anyone. He hasn’t changed how he is, he’s always behaved like that. Wherever he’s been he’s acted in the same way. When Perez signed him he knew what he was getting.
“When I signed Cristiano Ronaldo I was dealing with Jorge Mendes, who is an agent for them both, and he kept talking to me about the prospect of singing Mourinho. I thought the same then as I do now, in the history of Real Madrid we’ve never seen a coach act like Mourinho does.”
It seems ridiculous that people are complaining about Mourinho after he wrestled the La Liga title away from Barcelona last season. The man is a born winner and he always delivers. Sure his attitude isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but as Calderon says, you know what your signing up for with him.
But it seems like his time in Spain will come to and end in the summer and Calderon seems sure he’s off to PSG. On some levels it would make sense but I’d love to see him back in the Premier League. Fingers crossed Ramon is wrong and Jose will be back in England at the end of the season as he’s a huge asset to the league.
