Overmars: Liverpool Among Clubs Making Checks On Ajax Starlet
Marc Overmars claims Liverpool regularly send scouts to watch Ajax games in order to keep an eye on Arsenal, Man Utd and Tottenham target Christian Eriksen.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool are making regular checks on Christian Eriksen.
Marc Overmars claims Liverpool regularly send scouts to watch Ajax games in order to keep an eye on highly-rated playmaker Christian Eriksen, according to Sky Sports News.
The Danish starlet has been with Ajax his entire career and has become one of the most sought-after youngsters in Europe since breaking into the first team in 2010. The 21-year-old has made 150 appearances for the Dutch club already and has chipped in with 27 goals and 48 assists during his career so far.
However, with his contract due to expire in 2014 and no sign of an extension being signed, Sky Sports suggest he could be set for a move this summer with Premier League quartet Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham all understood to be interested in the midfielder, who’s said to be valued at €20million (£16.9m).
Ajax technical director Overmars has now confirmed that foreign scouts – particularly those from Liverpool – watch their games on a regular basis with Eriksen likely to be the main attraction.
“We have a list of scouts from foreign clubs who have visited us and Liverpool have been a frequent visitor,” Overmars is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

With the player approaching the final year of his contract, Ajax are going to have to decide whether to cash in this summer or force him to see out the remaining year of his deal and risk losing him for nothing if they don’t manage to persuade him to sign an extension soon.
If Eriksen does leave Holland at the end of the season let’s hope he comes to the Premier League as he’d be a great asset and a joy to watch. The big question would be where he’d end up?
