Arsenal Linked With German International Stopper
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has added another name to his growing list of goalkeeping targets with German international Rene Alder the latest to have caught his eye
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal add Rene Adler to their list of targets.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has added another name to his growing list of goalkeeping targets with German international Rene Adler the latest player to catch his eye, according to the Mirror.
The report claims Wenger is on the look-out for a new No.1 this summer after appearing to lose faith with Wojceich Szczesny and has instructed his scouts to search the globe for suitable targets.
Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks but the Mirror suggests Adler has now become Wenger’s top target and he could be snapped up for a bargain £5m – which is £10m less than Stoke City are believed to want for Asmir Begovic.
The 28-year-old German stopper only joined Hamburg from Bayer Leverkusen last summer but has been restricted to just 21 appearances this season.

Szczesny has been mysteriously dropped from not only the Arsenal first team but from the entire squad in recent games with Vito Mannone being preferred on the bench, so it certainly seems like there is a lack of confidence being shown in him by the boss and it’s understandable why question marks are being raised over his future.
I’ve always been a big fan of Szczesny’s and still believe he has the talent to be our long-term No.1 but feel he needs an experienced keeper to not only push him for the first team spot but also someone he can learn from. If Adler can be snapped up for just £5m he could be an excellent option, but let’s see what the boss brings in this summer…
