Chelsea To Seal £20m Deal This Weekend?
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen attacker Andre Schurrle and could seal a £20 million deal this weekend, according to the Daily Mail.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on Chelsea’s pursuit of Andre Schurrle.
Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen attacker Andre Schurrle and could seal a £20m deal this weekend, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims further talks between the Blues and Leverkusen have taken place and a £20m deal is close to being concluded that would also see Kevin De Bruyne join the German outfit on loan next season.
Schurrle’s representative, Ingo Haspel, revealed he’s waiting to hear back from the clubs and hopes the deal could be sealed this weekend.
‘I am waiting for information from either Leverkusen or Chelsea, but there could be some positive news by the end of this weekend,’
‘It is an indication of how much Chelsea want the player that they are continuing to negotiate.’ Haspel is quoted as saying by the Mail
The Mail suggest the main sticking point appears to centre around De Bruyne’s reluctance to join Leverkusen on loan with the Belgian winger preferring a move to Borussia Dortmund or Schalke – who’re also understood to be keen on the exciting youngster.
Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller is believed to have made it clear to Chelsea last week when he visited London for talks that De Bruyne was key to the deal and they may pull out if the 22-year-old doesn’t agree to the move, but the newspaper claims that should the deadlock continue, the west Londoners may have to wait until next season to finally land Schurrle when the German international will be able to leave for just €14m due to a clause in his contract.
