Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could Xabi Alonso follow Mourinho to Chelsea?

Jose Mourinho wants to bring Liverpool favourite Xabi Alonso with him to Stamford Bridge if he completes his proposed return to Chelsea this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Talk of Mourinho returning to west London has intensified after Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, with the 50-year-old dropping the strongest hint yet that he will be leaving the Bernabeu at the end of the season after saying he wanted to go somewhere he was ‘loved’.
The Mail claim Mourinho is already planning for life at Stamford Bridge and has identified former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso as one of his first new recruits, with the 31-year-old’s future at Madrid in serious doubt after stalling on a new two-year contract extension.
Alonso has just 12 months left on his current deal and he’s understood to be one of Mourinho’s closest allies in the Madrid camp, with the report suggesting he’s holding out making a decision over his future until he finds out where the Portuguese coach will be next season.
A switch to Chelsea would not go down well at Liverpool with the Spanish international midfielder a firm favourite among the Anfield faithful having won the Champions League with the club back in 2005, and the Mail claim he’s even hinted at a possible return to Merseyside, so to end up at one of their rivals would be a bitter pill to swallow.

This is exactly what Chelsea need. I deep laying play maker who doesn’t mind sitting back and picking apart defenses.

Certainly possible, though I think it would take some convincing for him to return to the Premier League.
He would fit in well with both Chelsea and Mourinho (if Mourinho is going back to Chelsea). They could use a deep lying midfielder to control that area. Ramires and Luiz have done okay there this season, but both are much more attacking minded.
Chelsea have already said that they are planning on spending big this summer.

MOURHINO IS THE TRUE NEXT GREAT TO FERGUSON WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT , WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF BEHIND BACKS THE OLD TRAFFORD BRIGADE MIGHT TRY TO THROW A SPANNER IN CHELSEA`S WORKS TO BRING MOURHINO AND MAYBE RONALDO AND ALONSO ALONG WITH HIM , NO ONE IN THE EPL SHOULD EVEN BE CONSIDERED MAN UTD WANT A CLASS ACT TO FOLLOW FERGUSON AND WHO BETTER THAN THE SPECIAL ONE .
