Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Risk Missing Out On £15m Ace – Reina Replacement Eyed

Latest Liverpool transfer rumours. Today, the Reds risk missing out on Christian Eriksen and may turn to Asmir Begovic if Pepe Reina joins Barcelona this summer

With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool risk missing out on Christian Eriksen and may turn to Asmir Begovic if Pepe Reina joins Barcelona.

Reds drag heels over Eriksen

First up and the Mirror claim Liverpool risk missing out on Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen with the club understood to be stalling over completing a proposed £15m deal.

Eriksen has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents after another excellent season in Holland, with his 10 goals and 13 assists helping Ajax claim the Dutch title this term.

The 21-year-old is out of contract in 12 months time and has been tipped for a move this summer with the Mirror claiming Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the impressive playmaker. A ‘source’ told the newspaper that the Reds were prepared to pay the players reported £15m transfer fee, but now risk losing out after dragging their heels over completing the deal.

“One minute there was a concrete interest and Liverpool were willing to pay the fee, but now they are taking their time.” A source told the Mirror.

It’s reported that the Danish international wants his future resolved quickly and if Liverpool don’t make their move soon, Eriksen may opt to sign a new deal with Ajax.

Begovic eyed

Next up and the Mirror again as they claim that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will turn his attention to Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovi if Pepe Reina joins Barcelona this summer.

Reina is believed to be on the Catalans shortlist of potential replacements for Victor Valdes and the Mirror suggest that should the Spaniard return to the Nou Camp this summer, then Rodgers will make a move for Begovic with the lure of guarenteed first team football likely to give the Merseysiders the edge over the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea – who’ve also been linked with the £15m-rated stopper.

The newspaper suggests that Rodgers may also be prepared to sweeten the deal by offering Stoke Stewart Downing in exchange, despite the wingers return to form in recent months.

Brandon should not miss this opportunity to have Begovic in his team. But he should not allow Downing to go as he has improved a lot. Reina should move to another club. That ok but Brandon should make sure not to make to replace Skertel and bring two class defenders. Also backup for left back as once Enrique is out.
