Arsenal Transfer Targets Assessed: 3 Spaniard’s Including Fabregas, Villa & More…

As the opening of the Summer transfer window draws ever closer, Arsenal continue to be linked with numerous players from around the globe. Here, ‘Gunner333’ assesses three more faces that could potentially be on their way to the Emirates.
David Villa
There are many positions we need to fill in order to be successful next season and none are more longed for than a quality front-man. Forget creativity or leadership, the main trait we need our new striker to possess is the ability to find the net week-in, week-out. There is no-one more equipped to be this clinical than Barcelona hitman David Villa.
The Mirror are one of several media outlets who claim Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing him to the Emirates this summer, and with his vast experience and superb finishing he would give us the end product to the divine football we can play already. However, his age and susceptibility to long term injuries certainly go against him.
Verdict: ’50/50′ in my opinion.
Cesc Fabregas
Already an Arsenal legend, Cesc has been linked with a move back to the Prem after rumours suggested he is unhappy at Barcelona, with the Emirates thought to be his favoured destination. He delighted Gooners for eight years with his beautiful football ability and respected leadership and would be welcomed back to North London any time.
However, it would require a large amount of money to re-sign the 26-year-old Spaniard and with his reported frustrations also sparking interest from champions Manchester United, there is a feeling that it could be difficult to bring him back.
Verdict: I can see Cesc staying at Barca for at least another year
José Pepe Reina
With Szczesny under fire and Fabianski out of favour, some might say we still require a top player between the sticks. Valdes has already ruled out a move to Arsenal this summer as he wishes to play-out his contract at Barca, whilst his counterpart and the man he may even replace at Anfield next year, is also rumoured to be on Wenger’s Summer shopping list. His one-on-one capability and confidence when facing penalties shows how many vital points he may earn us if he arrives but a deal with Liverpool could prove tricky.
Verdict: Unlikely
