Arsenal Set to Table Formal Offer For Brazilian Stopper Who’s ‘Keen’ On Move
Arsenal are finally ready to submit a formal £1.5m offer to Queens Park Rangers for goalkeeper Julio Cesar, who’s said to be keen on a move to the Emirates.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are finally ready to put in a bid for Julio Cesar.
Arsenal are finally ready to submit a formal £1.5million offer to Queens Park Rangers for goalkeeper Julio Cesar, according to the Mirror.
We’ve been strongly linked with a move for the Brazilian stopper this summer following QPR’s relegation to the Championship but any potential deal was put on the back-burner while Cesar participated at the Confederations Cup.
He put in some outstanding performances en-route to helping his country lift the trophy with a 3-0 win over Spain in the final last month and it now appears like we’re finally ready to make our move.
The Mirror claim boss Arsene Wenger will table a £1.5m opening bid in the hope that it will be enough to persuade QPR to sell the 33-year-old and get his £70,000-a-week wages off their books. The newspaper also suggests the keeper is ‘keen’ on making the move to the Emirates Stadium as he would prefer to remain in London and the Premier League as opposed to returning to Italy.
Cesar would be a superb addition to the squad and if we could snap him up for just £1.5m, it would be one of the buys of the summer. His experience would be vital in pushing Wojciech Szczesny to another level while at 33, he wouldn’t threaten the young Pole’s long-term future at the club.
Let’s hope we can get this deal tied up quickly, ideally in time for Cesar to join the rest of the squad when we leave on our pre-season tour later this week.
