Arsenal Confident Improved £40m Bid Will Be Enough To Land Suarez
Arsenal are confident that a new and improved £40m offer for Luis Suarez will be enough to see the striker force his way out of Anfield, according to reports.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Arsenal are confident that a new and improved £40m offer for Luis Suarez will be enough to see the striker force his way out of Anfield, according to the Independent.
The report claims the Gunners failed with an opening £30m offer last week but are set to return with an improved bid as Arsene Wenger continue’s to try and bring a world class striker to the Emirates this summer. Gonzalo Higuain is also on his radar but with Real Madrid now seemingly determined to hang on to the Argentinean hitman, Wenger has now switched his focus to Suarez.
The Independent suggest that while Liverpool would still be reluctant to sell their star man to a domestic rival even for £40m, they would be compelled to inform Suarez should such an offer come in and it’s at this point Arsenal are confident the 26-year-old will be able to force a move out of Anfield.
While Suarez has recently hinted he’d be willing to remain in England and play for a team in the Champions League, the bad news for Arsenal is the newspaper suggests the player’s preferred destination remains Madrid. However, the Spaniard’s are yet to make any formal move and may not do so if they decide to hang on to Arsenal target Higuain, leaving the Emirates as a viable alternative if the Uruguayan is determined to leave Liverpool.
Even if Madrid do end up beating Arsenal to Suarez’s signature, that’s likely to mean Higuain would be made available, so at this point Wenger should be confident he’ll be able to land one of his two striking targets.
But that big-money signing that Arsenal fans crave is still some way off at this point, but it’s shaping up to be an interesting few weeks in the transfer market.
