Arsenal & Tottenham Battling Over Spanish Starlet
Arsenal and Tottenham are set to go head-to-head over the signing of Spanish starlet Alvaro Vadillo – who’s been likened to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal and Tottenham are battling for Alvaro Vadillo.
Rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are set to go head-to-head over the signing of Spanish starlet Alvaro Vadillo – who’s been likened to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Daily Mail.
The 18-year-old attacker has emerged as one of Spain’s most promising youngsters after coming through the Real Betis youth set-up to become the youngest player ever to start a La Liga match when he made his debut during a 1-0 win away at Granada back in August 2011 when he was just 16 years, 11 months and 16 days old.
Vadillo has drawn comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo due to his style of play and he has a similar physique to that of the Portuguese super-star when he was the same age.
His impressive form appears to have attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs with the Mail claiming that Manchester United had a £2.5m offer rejected back in October, with Betis manager Pepe Mel claiming the youngster will be worth much more in the future.
‘We are studying offers for him and there has been a concrete one recently from a foreign team,’
‘But if he is worth €4million today after playing 30 matches then, for example, he could be worth €12million and so on.’ Mel is quoted as saying in the Mail
The newspaper suggests that Arsenal and Tottenham have also shown an interest in bringing the talented attacking midfielder to the Premier League, and are ready to battle it out for his signature this summer.
Arsene Wenger is under serious pressure from Gunners fans to spend some money this summer and while Vadillo is no doubt a huge talent, he wont be the big-name signing the supporters are demanding.
Spurs on the other hand could have a sizeable budget burning a hole in their pockets if Gareth Bale is sold to Real Madrid but I’m not sure the White Hart Lane faithful would be too impressed if his replacement was an unproven teenager.
